Upon his return to Anfield, he received a negative reception from the home supporters, who vandalized his mural outside the stadium before the game.
On the Stick To Football podcast, Keane and Wright shared their thoughts on Alexander-Arnold's return.
"The reputation of Liverpool fans is that they're loyal, but I think for any player to go back and be booed, that's understandable," Keane said.
Ian Wright interrupted, "Roy, when Alexander-Arnold was a youngster, he dreamed of winning with Liverpool. He thought he'd return one day and be celebrated, but he was leaving when he was getting ready to go."
"So, I was more concerned for him when Liverpool fans were booing him," Wright said. "He would have expected that, especially with the way he left, and that was the saddest thing he had to deal with."
"That's what happens when you choose another team over Liverpool, especially one as iconic as Real Madrid," Wright added.
Keane later replied, suggesting that the booing wasn't necessary and that fans should move on from Alexander-Arnold.
"Of course, Liverpool fans will think they're the biggest club in the world, but why go to a match and boo a player who has given so much to the team?" Keane asked.
"You don't have to wish him well in Madrid, but to go to the effort of booing him as a local lad is unnecessary," Keane said.
"Liverpool fans should take a closer look at themselves and consider their behavior," Keane added.
Keane also praised Alexander-Arnold for keeping a low profile during his departure from Liverpool and said he left a better team to join a worse one.
