The 48-team tournament will take place next year in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The opening match will be held on 11 June in Mexico City, with the final scheduled for 19 July in East Rutherford, near New York. Washington is not one of the host cities.
The German Football Association (DFB) will begin its World Cup qualifying campaign in Slovakia on 4 September. They will face Northern Ireland and Luxembourg in the group stage. Only the winners of each group will secure a spot in the World Cup.
