Nuno pointed out that there were two key moments in the game where Forest could have done much better. He noted that these situations were similar to others they have encountered in the past.
“We have been known for our strong defense, and we have achieved many clean sheets this season. However, today was different. We give credit to Brentford for their performance, but we believe that with a better approach, we could have handled the situations more effectively,” Nuno explained.
“We were not satisfied with our offense today. There was a period in the second half where we were in control and causing problems for Brentford, but things became more challenging after they scored their second goal.
“Our players put in a lot of effort, but we cannot ignore the fact that we made mistakes. We have often praised our defense, but today it was the other aspect of our game that let us down,” Nuno said.
Nuno also acknowledged that his players are feeling the pressure of their Champions League hopes hanging in the balance. He said, “We don't see the pressure, but we feel it. We thought that after a first half where both teams played poorly, we should have been level at 0-0 at halftime and started again fresh.
“We need to look within ourselves to understand why we didn't perform better. But I see belief, desire, and commitment in my players. The reality is that we are struggling with focus and determination in certain aspects of our game – specifically in solving simple situations.
