This is the second defeat for Newcastle in the UYL, following their loss to Barcelona in the first round.

The team's England U18 international, Sean Neave, showed promise by coming close to scoring with a shot that hit the post late in the game. He was one of the standout players for Newcastle.

Neave also made his senior debut for Newcastle in a preseason match against Celtic.
