Amorim discussed the importance of captain Bruno Fernandes to the team. "He is a top player and we need top players," he said. "He is a leader and we want to keep him." Fernandes' future at the club has been the subject of speculation, but Amorim is keen to keep him. "We want to keep him, he is one of the top players in the world," he added.
Amorim reflected on the first leg, acknowledging that United had problems in the first 30 minutes. "We lost possession and they created chances because of it," he explained. "We watched the game and showed the players why we had problems."
To reach the final, Amorim believes his team must suffer and be prepared to face a tough game. "We have to face the game as one more game. We will have to suffer a little bit to go to the final, and we are ready to suffer," he said.
As a manager, Amorim understands the pressure to win is different from the desire to win as a player. "As a manager, you have to win it. If you lose in the final, it will hurt even more, especially in this kind of season," he said.
Despite Bilbao's injuries, Amorim is unfazed. "It doesn't matter. We need to go to the game. It is a final for us and we need to go to it to win the game."
Amorim previously described his United squad as the worst in the club's history, but he believes that could change. "At the end of this season, we can be the worst team in Premier League history with a European title," he said. "This season has been really disappointing for everyone, but nothing is going to change."
